Private Pinotage wine tour from Cape Town
A Stellenbosch-focused private wine day built around Pinotage, not a generic estate checklist.
Travel privately from Cape Town City Centre or the V&A Waterfront with a registered guide and vehicle dedicated to your booking. The route is built around three confirmed Pinotage-relevant estate experiences so the day can compare the cultivar’s history, producer styles, vineyard expression and cellar approaches without racing between unrelated stops.
The vehicle, guide and ground itinerary are private, while estate tasting rooms remain supplier-operated and may include other visitors. The public R2,495 amount is an indicative starting price rather than a fixed final tariff. Exact estates, standard tastings, pairings, cellar visits, lunch arrangements and supplier-controlled fees are confirmed in the accepted written quotation before payment. Preferred producers can be requested but are never treated as guaranteed before supplier confirmation.
Three Confirmed Pinotage Experiences
The itinerary is built around three Pinotage-relevant estate experiences confirmed for the booked date, rather than publishing fixed wineries that may not be available.
Private Journey, Supplier-Operated Estates
Your vehicle, registered guide and ground route are private. Estate venues, tasting rooms, menus, supplier prices and operating decisions remain under the individual suppliers.
From R2,495 — Indicative, Not a Fixed Final Tariff
The published amount is a starting reference. The final written quotation confirms the live supplier costs, three Pinotage-focused estate experiences, exact tasting formats, lunch arrangement, collection area and any upgrades before payment.
No Fixed Estate List or Guaranteed Tasting Format
The tour promises three confirmed Pinotage-focused estate experiences, not three permanently hard-coded wineries. Standard tastings, pairings and cellar visits apply only when the selected suppliers confirm them in writing.
Want More Regional Variety?
Compare the broader private Stellenbosch & Franschhoek wine tour when exploring two regions and multiple wine styles matters more than a dedicated Pinotage focus.
Prefer the Shared Pinotage Tour?
Choose the shared Pinotage route when a scheduled group vehicle and timetable suit you better than a private guide, vehicle and individually coordinated estate sequence.
Prefer a Shorter Constantia Wine Day?
Choose the private Constantia tour when you want a shorter wine journey closer to central Cape Town rather than a full Stellenbosch Pinotage-focused day.
Need a Broader Custom Day?
Use the custom private Cape Town tour when wine is only one part of a wider day rather than the central purpose of the itinerary.
Your journey
Experience overview
Discover Pinotage through a private Cape Winelands journey exploring the history, styles and modern expression of South Africa’s distinctive red-wine cultivar.
Travel from Cape Town with a registered private guide to three carefully selected estates chosen for their Pinotage relevance, current tasting programmes, setting and route compatibility. The experience is designed around thoughtful comparison rather than rushed volume, allowing guests to understand how vineyard sites, cellar techniques, maturation and producer style shape the wine in the glass.
Pickup is from Cape Town City Centre or the V&A Waterfront.
The vehicle, guide and itinerary are private to the confirmed group. Estate tasting rooms may also host other visitors unless a private tasting room or exclusive host has been specifically reserved and listed in the quotation. The page therefore promises a privately guided journey—not automatic exclusive use of every venue.
The exact estates, standard tastings, pairing, cellar visit and lunch arrangement are confirmed in writing before payment. An indicative starting price is provided, but supplier fees and the final itinerary may change according to reservation availability, selected experiences, group size and collection area. Nothing should be assumed to be included unless it appears in the accepted quotation.
A typical day includes a Stellenbosch orientation, three confirmed Pinotage-focused estate visits and a planned lunch stop. Biltong, chocolate or other food pairings may be included when the selected estate and pairing format are expressly confirmed. Premium flights, reserve tastings, additional courses, extra drinks and wine purchases remain separate unless added.
The tour is intended for guests aged 18 and older. Non-drinkers are welcome, and dietary or accessibility needs should be disclosed before booking so the route, estates, vehicle and meal arrangements can be assessed honestly.
Your journey is coordinated by Donovan and delivered by Donovan or another approved registered guide, as confirmed before departure. The operating order may change because of estate availability, traffic, weather, supplier operations and guest pace.
Ideal for
Wine enthusiasts, couples, friends, collectors, food-and-wine travellers and private groups wanting a deeper introduction to Pinotage and the Cape Winelands.

Entrance fees: There are no standard public attraction fees. Any cellar tour, museum, heritage site, private tasting room or ticketed estate activity is included only when expressly listed in the quotation.
Meals: Lunch is included only when the accepted quotation expressly identifies the venue and meal format or allowance. An unrestricted à la carte meal is not assumed. Important information
What to wear: Wear comfortable smart-casual clothing and walking shoes. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses and a light layer for cooler cellar spaces or changing Winelands weather. Guests should also carry any personal medication and valid identification when requested by the estates.
Weather alternative: The tour generally operates in varied weather. Outdoor viewpoints, walking stops and the order of the route may be adjusted for comfort and safety, while confirmed indoor tasting experiences usually continue subject to estate operations and safe road conditions.
Dietary: Dietary requirements and allergies must be disclosed before booking. Vegetarian, non-pork, dairy-free, gluten-sensitive and other alternatives depend on the selected estates and restaurant confirming what they can safely provide. Cross-contamination-free preparation cannot be assumed unless confirmed by the supplier.
Booking notice: Book at least 72 hours in advance where possible. Earlier booking is strongly recommended during peak season, weekends and holiday periods because estate tastings, pairings and restaurant reservations require supplier confirmation.
Cancellation: Cancellation and rescheduling follow the accepted Along the Shaws Booking Terms together with any confirmed estate, tasting, pairing, restaurant or transport conditions. Prepaid supplier charges may become non-refundable after reservation. The exact applicable terms are disclosed before payment.
