Table Mountain & Tanzanite private tour Cape Town
Table Mountain when the Cableway operates, then an independently operated tanzanite retail visit at the V&A Waterfront.
Along the Shaws provides the private vehicle, approved registered guide and ground-itinerary coordination. Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company controls ticket products, queues, weather closures, maintenance, operating hours and summit access. A standard return ticket is included when confirmed; Fast Track is a separate upgrade unless expressly listed in writing, and clear summit views are never guaranteed.
Tanzanite International is an independent specialist retailer at Shop G02, Ground Floor, Clock Tower precinct, V&A Waterfront. Tanzanite is the blue-to-violet gem variety of zoisite from the Merelani area of northern Tanzania. Browsing is optional; the retailer controls its staff, stock, grading or certification documents, presentation format, pricing and sales. Along the Shaws does not provide gemstone valuation, investment or resale advice.
Cableway Access Is Supplier-Controlled
Weather, maintenance, ticket capacity, queues and summit access remain under Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company. A private guide cannot guarantee operation or views.
No Purchase Obligation
Tanzanite International is a separate retailer. Browsing is optional, and any gemstone or jewellery purchase is a direct transaction between the guest and the retailer.
Prefer Cape Town City & Table Mountain?
Choose the private city route when Bo-Kaap, City Bowl landmarks and viewpoints matter more than the specialist gemstone visit.
Want Tandem Paragliding Instead?
Compare the private Table Mountain & tandem-paragliding journey when a weather-dependent specialist flight is the main second experience.
Need a Different Private Combination?
Use the custom private Cape Town tour when Table Mountain must be combined with food, heritage, shopping or another attraction at a tailored pace.
Prefer a Shared Table Mountain Day?
Compare the small-group Table Mountain & Cape Town City tour when shared sightseeing is a better fit than a private gemstone-focused itinerary.
Your journey
Experience overview
Combine two very different Cape Town experiences in one privately coordinated journey: Table Mountain when the Aerial Cableway is operating, followed by a specialist tanzanite retail visit at the V&A Waterfront.
Along the Shaws provides the private vehicle, approved registered guide and ground-itinerary coordination. Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company independently controls ticket products, queues, weather closures, maintenance, operating hours and summit access. A standard return Cableway ticket is included when that ticket and visit are confirmed for your date; Fast Track remains a separate upgrade unless expressly listed in writing. Clear summit views are never guaranteed.
After Table Mountain, continue privately to Tanzanite International at Shop G02, Ground Floor, Clock Tower precinct, V&A Waterfront. Tanzanite is the blue-to-violet gem variety of zoisite and originates from the Merelani area of northern Tanzania. The retailer may provide information about grading, certification, loose stones or jewellery, but its staff, stock, presentation format, opening arrangements and retail transactions remain entirely under the retailer’s control.
There is no obligation to purchase. Any gemstone, jewellery or souvenir purchase is a separate transaction between the guest and the retailer. Along the Shaws does not provide investment, valuation or resale advice and does not guarantee authenticity, treatment, future value or resale performance beyond the documentation issued by the seller for a specific item.
The experience normally takes approximately 5½–6 hours. Exact timing and operating order remain subject to Cableway status, weather, visibility, queues, traffic, retailer availability, guest pace and any optional Waterfront time confirmed in the quotation.
Typical itinerary
Subject to availability, weather, supplier arrangements and guest preferences.
Collection from the confirmed Cape Town accommodation or meeting point. The exact departure time is set around Cableway operations, expected queues and the wider itinerary.
Travel privately to the Lower Cableway Station. A standard return Cableway ticket is used when confirmed; Cableway operation, weather, queues and summit access remain under the Cableway company’s control.
Allow roughly 60–90 minutes for selected summit viewpoints and light walking when conditions allow. Clear views and a fixed amount of summit time are not guaranteed.
Continue privately to the Clock Tower precinct at the V&A Waterfront.
Visit the independent specialist tanzanite retailer when available. Browsing is optional; the exact staff interaction, presentation, stock and any purchase are controlled by the retailer.
Coffee, lunch, extra Waterfront time or another nearby attraction can be added only when realistic and expressly confirmed in the written quotation.
Return to the confirmed Cape Town drop-off point. Total journey time is normally approximately 5½–6 hours but varies with conditions and guest pace.

Fast Track is a separate ticket product and is included only when expressly quoted. The Tanzanite International store visit has no compulsory purchase requirement; all retail purchases are separate.
Meals: Meals and drinks are not a standing inclusion. Coffee, lunch or additional Waterfront time may be requested and is included only when expressly listed in the written quotation.
Important information
Weather-dependent — Donovan will advise on adjustments.
What to wear: Wear comfortable walking shoes and bring sunscreen, sunglasses, a hat and a light jacket or windbreaker. Summit conditions may be colder and windier than central Cape Town.
Weather alternative: If the Cableway cannot operate, Along the Shaws may propose a revised order, delay, reschedule or an agreed Cape Town viewpoint or alternative experience. Any Cableway ticket refund, credit or rescheduling remains subject to the supplier’s rules and the accepted Along the Shaws Booking Terms.
Booking notice: Advance booking is recommended. Table Mountain Aerial Cableway and Tanzanite International operate independently, so the Cableway ticket plan, weather status, retailer availability and any Fast Track request must be confirmed for the booked date.
Cancellation: Cancellation and refund treatment is governed by the accepted Along the Shaws Booking Terms and applicable supplier conditions.
