Tandem paragliding Cape Town shared tour
Shared Cape Town sightseeing coordinated around a specialist supplier-operated tandem flight.
Along the Shaws coordinates the shared ground journey, pickup route and sightseeing sequence. The tandem flight is delivered entirely by the appointed independent paragliding operator using its own qualified pilots, equipment, waivers, participant rules and safety procedures.
Flights normally launch from Signal Hill or Lion’s Head, not Table Mountain. The operator chooses the actual launch site and flying window according to live wind, weather, access and safety conditions, and the tandem pilot makes the final participation decision. Airtime is never guaranteed. A Table Mountain Cableway visit is separate and forms part of the day only when expressly listed in the accepted quotation.
Signal Hill or Lion’s Head
The supplier chooses between the recognised Cape Town launch sites according to live conditions. No fixed launch location should be assumed before the operator confirms it.
No Fixed Airtime or Universal Weight Limit
Flight duration and participant restrictions vary by operator and conditions. Ages, approximate weights and relevant health or mobility information must be supplied before confirmation.
Prefer the Private Paragliding Journey?
Choose the private Table Mountain & tandem-paragliding product when you want a dedicated vehicle and private ground itinerary around the separately operated activities.
Prefer Table Mountain & City Sights?
Choose the shared city tour when the Cableway, Bo-Kaap and city viewpoints matter more than a weather-dependent tandem flight.
Want Robben Island Instead?
Compare the Robben Island & Table Mountain shared journey when ferry-based heritage and the island programme are the main priority.
Prefer a Non-Flying Scenic Day?
Choose the private Cape Point & Penguins route when Chapman’s Peak, Cape of Good Hope and Boulders Beach are a better fit than an aviation activity.
Your journey
Experience overview
See Cape Town from the ground and, when conditions allow, from the air on a carefully coordinated shared experience combining selected city and Atlantic Seaboard viewpoints with supplier-operated tandem paragliding.
The shared ground journey is arranged by Along the Shaws and may include other confirmed guests travelling on the same pickup route and sightseeing itinerary. The paragliding flight itself is not a group flight: each participant flies individually with one qualified tandem pilot appointed by the independent paragliding operator.
Cape Town tandem paragliding normally launches from Signal Hill or Lion’s Head, depending on wind direction, cloud, visibility, thermal activity and the operator’s safety decision. The flight does not launch from Table Mountain. The final launch site, meeting point and flight order are confirmed by the supplier, often close to the operating window on the day.
No previous paragliding experience is normally required. The appointed supplier provides the pilot, equipment and safety briefing. Every participant’s age, approximate weight, health and mobility information must be supplied before confirmation because operator restrictions vary and the tandem pilot makes the final participation decision.
The itinerary is deliberately flexible because the best flying window may occur earlier or later than expected. Sightseeing stops can be moved around the paragliding operation. A Table Mountain Cableway visit is optional and forms part of the journey only when the ticket and operating arrangement are expressly listed in the accepted quotation.
The published starting price is from R2,800 per person for the base shared sightseeing product. Final cost and inclusions are confirmed in writing after the shared route, participant details, appointed flight supplier, any optional Cableway ticket, media package and pickup arrangement are known. A flight, launch site, airtime and panoramic conditions can never be guaranteed.
Ideal for
Adventure-minded visitors who want a shared Cape Town sightseeing day with the possibility of a supplier-operated tandem paragliding flight, while accepting weather-dependent timing and operational flexibility.
Typical itinerary
Subject to availability, weather, supplier arrangements and guest preferences.
Shared collection from confirmed Cape Town accommodation or designated meeting points. The pickup window is coordinated around the group route and the supplier’s expected flying conditions.
Begin with selected Cape Town, City Bowl, Atlantic Seaboard or mountain viewpoints when this works around the expected paragliding window.
Meet the appointed paragliding operator at the confirmed Signal Hill or Lion’s Head meeting point. The supplier chooses the launch location according to current wind, weather, access and safety conditions.
Complete the operator’s documentation, participant-suitability checks, equipment preparation and tandem-pilot safety briefing.
Participants fly individually with qualified tandem pilots in the sequence determined by the operator. Airtime, launch site and waiting periods vary; no flight duration or departure time is guaranteed.
An optional lunch or refreshment stop may be fitted around the flying schedule. Meals and drinks remain excluded unless expressly listed in the accepted quotation.
Continue with the confirmed Cape Town sightseeing programme. A Table Mountain Cableway visit forms part of the day only when its ticket, timing and operating status are expressly included in the accepted quotation.
Shared return drop-offs at the agreed Cape Town points. Timing depends on the flying window, supplier operations, traffic, group pace and the final sightseeing sequence.

Important information
Weather-dependent — Donovan will advise on adjustments.
What to wear: Wear closed, secure shoes and comfortable clothing that allows easy movement. Bring sunscreen, sunglasses secured with a strap and a light windproof layer. Avoid loose items that could fall during launch or flight, and follow any additional instructions from the appointed operator.
Weather alternative: The itinerary may be reordered to use the best available paragliding window. If the operator cancels the flight, Donovan will discuss the confirmed supplier options, which may include rescheduling, continuing with the sightseeing programme, substituting another agreed experience or applying the supplier’s approved credit or refund process. If an optional Cableway visit cannot operate, a suitable Cape Town alternative will be discussed.
Booking notice: Request seats at least 72 hours in advance where possible. Provide the preferred date, number of flying and non-flying guests, participant ages, approximate weights, pickup area and any relevant health or mobility information. No flight or seat is confirmed until Along the Shaws and the appointed suppliers confirm it in writing.
Cancellation: The accepted quotation and Along the Shaws Booking Terms apply together with confirmed paragliding, Cableway and transport supplier conditions. Supplier deposits, tickets and optional media packages may become non-refundable after booking. Weather cancellation, rescheduling, credit and refund treatment will be stated before payment.
